Poetry in Community and Ink Press Productions presented the 8th Annual Cruellest Month Poetry and Performance Festival (CruMoPoPerFest) to celebrate National Poetry Month, joining in with the talented, quirky Baltimore community that’s got poetry running through its charming veins.

The Say What? Open mic, beat boxing with Max Bent, bookmaking, worn poetry (bring a plain shirt for poesizing), exquisite corpse (creative words assemblage), poetry-making with random objects, free poetry giveaways, and more.

On April 6th, join Poetry in Community and Ink Press Productions at the Waverly Library to kick off National Poetry Month with a FREE poetry reading and performances with the talented, quirky Baltimore community that’s got poetry running through its charming veins. Open to all ages.

Also featuring:
- Beatboxing with Max Bent;
- Open mic for our audience members;
- Contribute to a poetree;
- Random object poetry and worn poetry (bring a blank shirt);
- Sidewalk chalk poetry, free poetry giveaways, & more.

On April 28th, Poetry in the Community and the Waverly Library sent off National Poetry Month with a FREE poetry reading and performance featuring members of the local literary community and members of Waverly and surrounding neighborhoods. Special performance by Outside the Box, an interactive exploration of the Elements of Music through beatboxing, lead by Max Bent, Waverly resident and Young Audiences of Maryland Teaching Artist An open mic for our audience members will follow. Also featured were dramatic performances from Magus Magnus’ Idylls for a Bare Stage.

Just in time for prom season, a Poetic Formal. Poets and listeners came in their best (or worst) formal wear for a reading of form poems—from the traditional to the twisted. Poets Shirley Brewer, Clarinda Harriss, Bruce Sager, and Laura Shovan chaperoned an evening of glorious ghazals, sumptuous sestinas, tasty triolets, and seductive sonnets.
