Poetry in Community teamed up with Benjamin Warner, who currently teaches at Towson University, for our very first literary collaboration. Ben is also the leader of a poetry writing workshop at Community Vision, which provides daily services critical to the safety and well being of homeless men and women in Montgomery County. Community Vision is designed to provide support, advocacy, education and training for the homeless in Montgomery County; with the goal of empowering clients to obtain independence and self- sufficiency.
This is the first publication in the Poetry in Community Series, which is dedicated to the work and people in poetry workshops and programs that benefit underserved and under-represented communities.
Each April, Poetry in the Community presents free poetry performances and offers a month-long series of activities in virtual and physical spaces, with participation by local poets, local literary organizations, and poetry lovers and supporters. Join us for a month-long series of events that will put Baltimore on the map showing an impressive array of poetic talent on the East Coast of the United States of the Poetic Mind.
